Join us in celebrating the Lunar New Year! Participants will learn about the holiday while writing "chun lián" new-year scrolls, painting lanterns, and watching "The Tiger's Apprentice." Ages 12-19.
The Lunar New Year holiday celebrates the new beginning of the year based on the lunisolar calendar. It is celebrated across many Asian countries, including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, etc., and the customs and traditions of the holiday are different in each culture. In Chinese culture, people return home to reunite with their families, clean their houses to get ready for a fresh start of the new year, and decorate the house with spring couplets/scrolls, known as chun lián. There are many traditions associated with this important holiday, join us to learn why and how the Lunar New Year is celebrated!
