Looking for a video game that isn't time-consuming or technically complicated? Join The Club! This ongoing series will offer a new, short video game experience each month. Age 16 and up.
Drop in to play, watch, or just hang out and chat. We’ll have thought-provoking narrative games, unique walking sims, adorable adventure games, and some interesting presentations each season.
This month, we'll be playing and discussing NAIAD. NAIAD is available to play at the Video Game Station at the Downtown Library leading up to, and during, our meeting. To enhance our experience, we'll begin our session with a presentation from the Lake Monroe Watershed Coordinator, Maggie Sullivan. Maggie will discuss our local watershed and use a model to show how pollution gets washed into nearby streams and lakes. When you register, you can also request a Library copy of Is A River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane to check out from your selected location, which pairs nicely with this video game.
Video game summary:
"Immerse yourself in a relaxing, minimalist and colorful adventure. Flow with Naiad across a mysterious river and interact with its fauna and flora to discover little secrets. Enjoy a wholesome experience with an original and dreamy visual style."
Book summary:
"Is a River Alive? is a joyful, mind-expanding exploration of an ancient, urgent idea: that rivers are living beings who should be recognized as such in imagination and law."
